Congratulations for those expecting moms! I have two kids of my own and I remember the excitement of decorating the room, picking out a name and wondering if the baby would have my husband’s dimples or my hazel eyes. Funny, that neither one has dimples or hazel eyes.
Well Being during Pregnancy
Rest when you need to rest.
Educate yourself to understand the changes that are occurring and what to expect.
Exercise on a regular basis.
Try not to make any drastic changes such as: switching jobs or moving.
Make sure you have a support group.
Besides well-being, a lot of pregnant women are concerned about Post Partum Depression (PPD). PPD affects approximately 15%-20% of women from all different cultures, races and social economic status. Some would say that no new mother is immune from Post Partum Depression.
Warning Signs of PPD
Sleeping too much or unable to sleep at night.
Irritability and anger
Feelings of being overwhelmed
A lack of connection with your new baby.
Loss of appetite.
Feeling of worthlessness.
Sadness or tearfulness.
Having thoughts that everyone would be better off
without you or suicidal thoughts.
A decrease in your sex drive.
Inability to experience pleasure.
Difficulty making simple decisions.
Panic Attacks.
A symptom lasts longer than 2-3 weeks.
